This free four-hour class is the first step in the application process. You’ll learn with live guidance and complete practical work. Your participation, engagement, and completed work will become part of the hiring review.

This class is one step in your internship application.

You’ll receive guidance, complete practical work, and get a clear picture of the internship. What you contribute during class will be considered alongside the rest of your application.

  1. Enroll and attend

    Registering saves your seat and begins your application. Attending the free class is a required part of the process.

  2. Learn and participate

    No previous marketing, website, or coding experience is expected. Ask questions, use the guidance provided, and complete the class activities.

  3. Continue through review

    Your participation, engagement during the class, and completed work will be considered as one part of the hiring decision.

Good to know: Registering saves your seat and starts your application. It does not guarantee internship placement. Applicants selected to continue will receive next steps after class.

Meet the AMA faculty advisor

Assistant Professor, ETSU Department of Marketing

Michelle Sullivan is an Assistant Professor in the ETSU Department of Marketing and serves as Faculty Advisor for the ETSU American Marketing Association chapter.

She began her career in outsourced telecom sales, moved into management and ownership of sales offices across the Southeast, and joined ETSU in 2009. She earned her MBA at ETSU and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Administration at the University of South Alabama.

  • A few notes about yourself, or about a business you would build a site for, plus any logo, photos, or details you already have.
  • No previous website-building, marketing, or coding experience is required.

  • Your attendance recorded against your CloudWise Academy and AMA intern application.

What you’ll be able to do

Plan, build, review, and launch a website with Home, About Us, Services, and Contact pages, then keep improving it through the internship.

Do I have to take this class to apply for the internship?+

Yes. Attending Marketing for Beginners is a required step in the CloudWise Academy and AMA East Tennessee State University intern application.

Does the class cost anything?+

No. The class is free for intern applicants, and registering costs you nothing beyond showing up on September 11.

Do I need marketing or website experience?+

No. The class is built for beginners and Joe walks you through every step. The application asks about your experience so we know where you are starting, not to screen you out.

Can I attend online?+

No. This session meets in person only, at 401 Ashe Street in Johnson City. Attending in person is part of the application.

What should I bring?+

A laptop that can get on the internet, plus any notes, photos, or details about yourself or a business you would build a site for.

What happens after I register?+

You get an email with the class details. Bring your laptop on September 11, and your attendance is recorded against your intern application.

Does registering mean I am accepted into the internship?+

No. Registering saves your seat and starts your application. We review applications after the class and follow up with next steps.
