Website Analytics! There is no better time than now to get familiar with your website analytics, don’t let another year go by confused by them. Analytics can seem scary at first and I know I was intimidated at first. The point is not to become a master at analytics. The idea is to learn one or two things about analytics that will help you better understand how well your business is doing or help you figure out what you can do better.
The first step is to ask your marketing company if you are set up and logged into analytics and if you aren’t, get a new marketing company. You can set it up yourself by going to Google Analytics. You’ll get a tracking code to paste into your pages, so Google knows when your site is visited and in a few hours, you will be able to see who is visiting your site.
So one the few things that you need to do to understand analytics is you to learn to pick a time frame. So when you are looking at how many visitors you’ve had, you can choose a time frame and figure out how many visitors you have had in the past week, month and even year.
Take a few moments to make sure you have analytics connected to your website. Learn how to pick a time frame, see new sessions, bounce rate, And time on site.
We found this article from Moz – The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Google Analytics, it’s a great resource to make sense of each step.
Learning the basics of analytics will help you take control of your business and get a better understanding of how the internet is impacting it. Check out our full show with 10 tips to help businesses succeed in 2018: Being Found Show Episode 42
