(In this article we talk about Google Adwords. If you’re looking for some help with paid search, check out our Adwords package ).
If you’re a restaurant in Redding, you probably aren’t aware that a big opportunity to bring in a lot of customers is going tragically untapped. We’re referring to paid search. Restaurants aren’t taking advantage of it, presumably because they don’t know what it is or how it works.
But the first one to do so could potentially wind up with an “unfair advantage” as we say on our radio show. So we’re here to explain it!
Raise your hand if you’ve ever typed “restaurants in Redding” into Google. I have. We all have.
Notice anything peculiar?
If you’re an SEO veteran you will.
There are no Ads at the top of the page!
If you buy a term on Google Adwords, you can pay a certain amount of money every time someone clicks on your page and instantly show up at the very top of google search results. That’s called “paid search.” Also known as “pay-per-click” or PPC.
If you look for any decently competitive search term, you’ll see many ads.
For example. I just typed in “buy insurance”:
Four ads show up from large companies before you ever see the non-paid, “organic” results. And that’s fairly typical. In our marketing company we sometimes have our clients pay 10s of dollars per click on ads just to bring in more sales. Ultimately, the leads they bring in with first-page ads more than pay for themselves.
So that brings us back to the term, “restaurants in Redding.” Know how much you need to pay per click to be the #1 search result in the entire town for the term tomorrow?
62 cents.
What’s more, the term “restaurants” is going for $1.98 per click. The term “restaurants near me” costs $4.62.
These are insanely low prices. Think how many customers you could bring in if you spent $50 dollars to show up #1 for the term “restaurants” around dinnertime one day.
Don’t believe me? Go to Google AdWords and look for yourself. It’s free to check. Here are the steps:
Please pass this article around. The first restaurant who sees this and tries to take advantage of it stands to make some serious money. If you run a restaurant or own a restaurant, consider investing some cash into Google adwords. You could transform your business tomorrow.
At least until the rest of Redding catches on.
