If you were at Amplify, Joe’s Web Geeks can help you implement some of the ideas we shared there.
Yesterday, approximately 75 business people from all over Shasta County showed up at the Shasta EDC to attend a business conference put on by the Smart Center, by the Shasta Economic Development Corporation, and by Cloud Potential.
There was food, merriment, speeches, and a lot of learning.
Who was there?
The speakers included a number of powerful names in the world of marketing and in the world of local tech. There was:
- Kristin Zhivago: A revenue coach for decades and the writer of one of Forbes top six marketing books of all time, Roadmap to Revenue: How to Sell the Way Your Customers Want to Buy. Also, President and co-founder of Cloud Potential.
- She discussed how to understand what customers want and the new realities of Being Found Marketing and the mobile era.
- Desiree Bryant: A marketer who has held top management positions in a number of firms, and who has, over the course of her career, created millions of dollars in revenue in very short amounts of time through her mastery of marketing strategy.
- She talked about the role marketing plays in a successful business, and the activities and mindsets marketers need to be successful.
- Jason Eatmon: The Vice President (and one of the co-founders) of Development Group Incorporated
, a local IT company. Well known in the county as a huge name in business and technology.
- He knocked it out of the park with an impassioned speech about hiring the right people and how it relates to growing a company.
- Joe Mckenna: CEO and co-founder of Cloud Potential, Cloud Wise Academy, and the Being Found Help Center. He’s built companies up to millions of dollars, he’s done it multiple times, and he’s done it fast.
-
-
- Joe Mckenna (or Cloud Wise Joe as he’s known on our show) talked about how to hire for character, how to train for success, and the perils that many businesses are unwittingly bringing upon themselves.
-
- Tony Giovaniello: President of the Shasta Economic Development Corporation and a lifelong businessman, not to mention a very well-respected name in the community.
- Tony talked about how businesses can find resources in the community and about how the success of business can help our community.
And last, but not least . . .
- C.R. Gibbs:
These caterers are renowned in Redding for their amazing food and service.
- They didn’t give a speech, but they did serve, among other things, fajitas.
What was it like?
Speaking from my vantage as one who was part of the planning process, we didn’t expect anything close to the turnout we got. Naturally, this is heartening for a few reasons.
This was explicitly a conference about the power of the Internet to affect business and how to adapt. This was about the message we espouse in the Digital Revolution Show. And people are aware of it.
What this means: Business leaders in Shasta County are starting to become aware that the mobile era is posing a challenge. And they’re ready to face this challenge head-on.
I noticed after the speeches that there was a very inspiring camaraderie in the air. During lunch I joined in lively conversations with a number of business-people. It seemed as though the speeches, filled as they were with new ideas, had unstopped some hidden stream of energy t. People spoke with great enthusiasm, bounding from concept to concept, entertaining wild new notions of how to operate, how to innovate, how to succeed.
In short: It went pretty well.
